Your subconscious mind controls your body up to 95 percent of the time, every day of your life. It exists below consciousness. The creative, conscious mind is not driving the car– your subconscious mind is in control. Your subconscious mind was programmed when you were a child, and has been running those same programs ever since. Here lies the source of many of your problems, and the reason why it’s so hard to break patterns and habits that have been ingrained in you since you were a child.
Repetition creates habits. The subconscious mind loves this. If you feed your subconscious mind the same feelings, thoughts and actions over and over again, it will keep performing them, regardless of whether they are positive or negative. Your subconscious mind accepts these habits as real and true. Emotion speeds up the process and downloads the input.
The subconscious mind is an amazingly powerful tool that can be at your disposal if you learn how to use it. In this two-part blog, we will discuss how to learn to change your life by changing the programs in your subconscious mind. One of the ways to do this is through entraining your brain using music and sound.

Learning How to Use Your Subconscious to Your Advantage

When you are learning to lift weights, it is important that you have the right form. This will help to grow your muscles, toning them and defining your body. On the other hand, if you have the wrong form, you can hurt yourself, causing injury that can impede your workout. Hiring a trainer who teaches you the correct form will help you to achieve great results. As you continue to train, you will receive the reward of a firmer body with greater definition and weight loss. After a few months, you no longer even have to think about your form. Your body knows exactly what to do, as you have trained it through repetition and focus. Because you have already formed the basis of muscle memory, you can increase the amount of weight you lift without encountering problems.
This is similar to how the subconscious mind works. It requires the conscious mind to teach and train it with focus, repetition, desire, and more repetition. Soon, your subconscious mind will be driving the car without you having to think about what you are doing. This mind allows you to free up space to utilize your conscious mind to learn new things.
As your conscious mind works with your subconscious mind by teaching it what to do through thought, feeling, desire, emotion, action and repetition, it can continue to build upon what it knows, and soon, you will have a great life. Or not. What you experience is dependent on what has been programmed by your form, input and repetition.
So why do we continue to struggle? This is the million-dollar question. The subconscious mind is the driver of the car of your life until YOU decide to take responsibility and take over. While this may sound simple in theory, those of us who have practiced this work know that it is the greatest challenge you will ever face. The challenge is to face yourself and understand that most of what you know, you were taught or force fed by others. Nothing outside of yourself is causing your reactions. It is your thoughts, feelings, and reactions to the things you perceive to be outside of yourself that causes your reactions, thus creating your reality.

Networks and Patterns Learned from Childhood

Although your reactions are happening in your mind, the mind isn’t running the show. Your body is in control, as it communicates to the brain through your trained neural networks. These neural networks are the ones that you were trained on and that were put into place, most of them unknowingly, up until you were age seven. Your brain existed in the wave states of Delta from the ages of zero to two and Theta from the ages of two to seven. During this time, your subconscious mind was taking in information from your environment and the people who surrounded you. This was the time that you learned what love felt like, what love meant to you and to others, how you were expected to perform, who you were expected to be, how people spoke to you, what people said to you and about you, what people said about themselves, how people felt about themselves, and more. In the Theta state, which exists in the subconscious, you were like a sponge that absorbed feelings, thoughts, emotions, and situations, and you accepted them as real and true. You simply took everything in and tried to categorize your views of the world and your environment and what it all meant in relationship to you.
This is why you have such a hard time seeing yourself accurately now, as an adult. You know what you feel, and you believe these things to be authentic and true. What you perceive in your outer world is literally coming from the subconscious mind, which is simply repeating the patterns, feelings, emotional reactions, thoughts and behaviors that you were taught.
Now this is where it gets even more interesting. Once your subconscious mind has been trained through repetition and feeling, it then wires into the body through the autonomic nervous system. The ANS is directly related to the subconscious mind. Just like its name, it runs automatically. The subconscious mind picks up its energy from the environment and, without you even knowing it (because it’s subconscious), it triggers your body to release chemicals that send messages to your brain. Your brain then responds and believes that something is happening. What is actually happening is an old pattern that was programmed years ago. Whether this experience is truly happening is really dependent upon your beliefs, perceptions and experiences that have been stored in your subconscious mind. To you, this feeling that “something is happening” is as real as the ground upon which you stand. To others, however, it is not even perceivable.
For example, let’s say that you walk into a coffee shop before work to grab a quick cup of coffee. The line is 40 people long. You only have 10 minutes to get to work, so you are anxious because you don’t want to be late, as you have already been reprimanded by your boss for tardiness. The moment you walk into the coffee shop, your mind and body surveys the energy there. You automatically tighten your shoulders when you see the line is 40 people long. Your memory (your subconscious mind) reminds you that you have been reprimanded for lateness before (which creates an unconscious threat), but your conscious mind tells you you need coffee. So, you get in line, knowing you are risking being late to work. As you approach the cashier to order, you have just enough time to get to the office unseen by your boss. But, the person in front of you can’t find their debit card, they are frantically searching for it, and the only thing you can think of is, “Hurry up and get the hell out of my way!!!” You can’t believe that this person is so unconscious of the people around them, that they are holding up 40 more people behind you, and that they are making you late for work. You become angry with them – a chemical reaction – as you feel their utter disregard for you being late (your own belief) as well as their disregard of the people around you. Someone steps in to buy their coffee, and you are next. Now, you are flustered and angry, as you know you will be late to work and you blame the person who couldn’t find their wallet.
In reality, you are late because you have a HABIT of being late. You have already been reprimanded. You knew the line was 40 people long and still you took the risk. The person who you thought had utter disregard for others in line is a reflection of your own utter disregard for your boss who wants you to be on time and for your job security. Instead of stepping in to help the person in front of you, you glared at them and sent out your energy of anger and impatience. You felt justified in those feelings, when, in truth, you had the opportunity to choose differently and to perceive things differently. You could also have purchased their coffee for them, but you did not. You reacted. Why? Because of your subconscious programming. This example is just one of the millions of programs that you have downloaded into your subconscious mind.
In Part 2, we will examine more of the programs that have been downloaded into your subconscious mind, the science behind the mystical, and how you can make changes using music and sound.
